Working as a professional model gave founder, Karen Rampersad, the opportunity to see the most beautiful places and experience opulence and luxury. Meeting people where money was not an issue opened her eyes to a completely different world than she herself was used to. The complete opposite of the spectrum was also a harsh reality. During her time working in London is when she first saw the need for a revival in small communities around the world. "I cried as I watched a short infomercial in the city of London, about the children of Africa struggling to survive without clean water and sanitary living conditions. My heart broke for theirs as I witnessed the injustice of the world". It was then that she realized how fortunate so many other parts of the world were and that it would be amazing if the community would come together to help those in need.
That sixty-second experience gave birth of 1 Purpose, INC. Coming back home to the states in 2011, she decided to start a nonprofit to help people who needed a better way of life. Although her heart was to help the disadvantaged children of Africa she realized that there was a great need in her own backyard. Walking the streets of Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and other major cities she had traveled for work, the veil was released and her eyes were opened to the reality of the poor and disadvantaged.
During her walk with Christ, she faced many trials and tribulations, which led her to complete submission to the work of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Karen now dedicates her life to end the cycle of poverty and mending the broken spirited. She calls it community rehabilitation. Not taking on this journey alone she knows that we as a community are better together and can accomplish so much once everyone uses their God given gifts and talents to aid in initiatives to help those in need. Every project 1 Purpose takes on is lead by Godly advisement and counsel.
